about

A continuation of the quilting processes and space-chamber-music aesthetic of the preceding ZGTC album Lydian Haiku - 'Alliminence' is equal part sound-collage and song-cycle: a delicate balance of indeterminacy and composition; of free improvisation and lyrical deftness; slice-of-life new-sentimentalism and abstract expression.

As with Lydian Haiku, the impetus for composition came from a collection of improvised sketches, voluntarily gifted to the project by friends, peers and comrades of the south-west 'new weird' scene. These snatches of melody and ambience were then stitched together onto a 4-track tascam tape recorder with wild acoustic guitar and increasingly 'extended' vocal technique, as well as a variety of esoteric drones and bells.
